MTN-042B was designed and conducted as sub-study of DELIVER (MTN-042) to provide the basis for comparison needed to evaluate the safety of oral PrEP and the dapivirine ring during pregnancy. MTN-042B involved a review of more than 10,000 medical charts at maternity hospitals and clinics in the same communities where DELIVER is taking place, providing important insight about pregnancy and neonatal outcomes in these communities as well as the frequency with which different complications occur.
