- MTN-010 is a Phase 2 trial that will study the safety of extended daily use of UC781 gel, an ARV-based topical microbicide, among approximately 150 sexually active HIV-negative adult women. Participants will be asked to vaginally dose with one pre-filled applicator daily for approximately 24 weeks. The pre-filled applicator will contain either UC781 0.25% gel or HEC placebo gel. Researchers are conducting MTN-010 to determine if vaginally applied UC781 0.25% microbicide gel is safe for women to use daily. This research builds on existing safety and pharmacokinetic data that provide evidence of UC781’s great potential as a well-tolerated and potent candidate microbicide.
